Come root for San Francisco’s youth at the Elks National Hoop Shoot Free Throw Contest, at the Glen Park Recreation Center, 70 Elk St., San Francisco, on Sunday, September 29th, 2019!
San Francisco Elks Lodge #3 is once again sponsoring this event, which promises to be a memorable and fun day for adults and kids alike. Children ages 8 to 13 will compete to sink the most of 25 free throws. At the contest, participants have the opportunity to connect with new friends and learn valuable skills, like hard work and good sportsmanship, which will help them succeed on and off the court. The national Hoop Shoot contest series begins at the local level, and winners advance through district, state and regional competitions, culminating at the National Finals this April in Chicago. Six contestants will be named National Champions, and will have their names permanently inscribed in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Note: Age-groups are based on the contestant’s age on April 1, 2020.
The event kicks off with registration beginning at Noon at the Glen Park Recreation Center at 70 Elk St., San Francisco, CA 94131, United States.
Event parking is also available at nearby St. John’s School. Whether you are a kid participating in the contest, a parent interesting in supporting San Francisco community events, or a volunteer willing to help make things run smoothly, we’re looking forward to seeing you there!
